ARC NEXUS
Independent Cyber Governance
Ashwin Ram, Founder and Managing Director of ARC Nexus

Founder and Managing Director, ARC Nexus

ARC Nexus was founded on a single observation: Australian directors face growing accountability for cyber outcomes, but the advisory market is dominated by firms that also sell implementation, technology, or managed services. The result is a structural conflict. The organisations advising Boards on cyber governance are often the same organisations delivering the programs those Boards are expected to oversee.

Ashwin Ram built ARC Nexus to sit outside that conflict. The firm provides independent cyber governance advisory to Boards, Audit and Risk Committees, and senior decision-makers. It operates independently of implementation, technology, and managed service providers, and holds no commercial relationship with the firms whose work it may be asked to assess.

Before establishing ARC Nexus, Ashwin spent over fifteen years in cybersecurity across Australia and New Zealand, working with Boards, C-suite executives, and enterprise organisations. His career includes time in the Office of the CTO at Check Point Software Technologies, one of the world's largest dedicated cybersecurity firms. That experience provided direct insight into how cyber risk is framed, sold, and governed at the enterprise level, and where the governance gaps sit.

Ashwin holds the Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors designation (GAICD), with formal training in director duties, fiduciary responsibility, and governance obligations under the Corporations Act. He is a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM). That combination of governance training and deep technical experience is central to the ARC Nexus model: the ability to translate complex cyber risk into the language of Board oversight, accountability, and defensibility.

Ashwin was recognised in the Top 100 Innovators in Australia in both 2023 and 2024, a national list presented by The Australian. His advisory approach is profiled as a case study in the book The Cyber Leadership Imperative.

He is a regular speaker at cybersecurity conferences and facilitates executive roundtables on cyber governance, threat landscape, and supply chain risk.
